Lukas Robinson of PokerNews Nails the Lead in Online Poker Showdown
What's Happening on the Virtual Felt
So, get this: on the very day that 888poker kicks off its hyped Stream On thing, guess who climbs to the top of the leaderboard in the PokerNews Online Championship Mystery Bounty Main Event? None other than PokerNews' own Lukas "RobinPoker" Robinson, and that's no small feat!
This dude from Liverpool who's making Malta his home jumped into the fray with 57 other hopefuls in the Main Event. They were all throwing down $215 each, eyeing that sweet $300,000 guaranteed prize. The cards hit the digital table at 7:00 p.m. GMT on February 29, and by the time they called it a night, Robinson had turned his humble 10,000-chip starter stack into a mountainous 190,445 chips !
Now, there's still a bunch of Mystery Bounty Main Event flights left, so Robinson's not out of the woods yet. But with a whopping 95 big blinds in his pocket, he's sitting pretty. He's in prime position to throw his weight around when Day 2 rolls around and those mystery bounties start popping off at 9:00 p.m. GMT on March 4.
Who's Hot on Robinson's Trail in the Main Event
If you're aiming to kick off Day 2 among the top ten chip leaders, you better be bringing at least 119,580 chips to the table, which is no less than 60 big blinds. And hey, if you've got your eye on one of those satellite seats for the Main Event, more power to you—looks like having a few extra shots at it could really make the difference.
More Chances to Grab a Piece of the $300,000 Prize
Robinson's Double Duty: Final Table Drama and a Big Win for "pincha73"
As if stacking chips in the Mystery Bounty Main Event wasn't enough, Robinson's been multi-tabling like a pro. He was also gunning for glory in the $320 Super KO High Roller, which had a cool $15,000 up for grabs. With 63 entrants, the pot swelled to $18,900, split right down the middle between the final 12 players and bounties worth $150 each.
Our man made it to the final table, eyeing that champion title. But despite his best efforts and outlasting "7betAA," "33betwizkid," "grimmLTU," and "xxbasexx," he bowed out in fifth place, pocketing $1,261 for his troubles.
It was "PotofGreed" from Malta who hit the rail in fourth place with $1,057, followed by the recent champ "algsxr" who snagged $2,297 for third. Then it was down to a South American showdown, with Argentina's "pincha73" squaring off against Brazil's "Escabofildo." In the end, "pincha73" claimed their biggest victory yet, walking away with $3,846.
